Effective fertility tracking

Fertility tracking is an increasingly mainstream topic of discussion. Once a taboo subject, the menstrual cycle is today rightly viewed as an important indicator of women’s health and an empowering symbol of womanhood. The cyclical nature of menstrual processes can also be a useful way to predict fertility.

The DaysyDay app embraces this new attitude to periods and the female body. In conjunction with the ‘Daysy’ fertility tracking device, it allows users to monitor their cycle and understand their body better. An algorithm identifies the user’s fertile days and, in doing so, can assist couples on their journey to conception.

Functionality

The app displays the daily basal body temperature measurements taken by the user using the Daysy cycle tracking device. The temperature measurements are analyzed using an algorithm and translated into insights about fertile and infertile times of the cycle.

Use of the app is as simple as it is intuitive. A range of graphs and temperature curves indicate the user’s current cycle phase and fertility status at a glance. Importantly, the app not only provides insight into the current cycle but offers precise forecasts of the timing of future cycles. The diary function allows users to make personal notes on cycle-related factors such as cervical mucus, sexual intercourse or their current emotional state (PMS calling!).

Form follows function

The app was conceived, designed and developed based on user feedback and decades of experience in the fertility tracking field. It is synchronized with the tracker device via Bluetooth or cable by double-clicking on the device.

As Daysy is a certified medical device, the DaysyDay app was designed to have an expressly minimalist and clean appearance. Stereotypically feminine design elements and colors were deliberately rejected in line with the principle that femtech shouldn’t automatically mean ‘girly’.

The no-frills design and CI colors run through all screens and graphics to deliver a coherent app and brand experience. The app places the readability and clarity of recorded data at the forefront, ensuring that data interpretation is as user-friendly as possible. The app was created based on the most fundamental principle of information design: reduce to the max.

Sharing is caring

The standalone Daysy Partner app makes it possible for selected data to be shared with a partner, recognizing the fact that the menstrual cycle is no longer just a ‘woman’s matter’. Summarized data can also be shared with other parties - for example, a gynecologist - with a few clicks while still maintaining data privacy.
