Teena scales the Swiss App Olympus at the Best of Swiss Apps
Three gold medals and the master title: The cycle tracking app "Teena" from VE Valley Electronics, implemented by the Zurich-based mobile agency Milk Interactive, won big at the Award Night. At the Award Night, prizes were distributed in 10 categories. And in 3 of these 10 categories the app for iOS and Android was on top.
The big winner of the evening was the "Teena" app, which, in combination with the matching Bluetooth thermometer, is designed to help adolescent women track their periods and better understand their cycle. The project won three gold awards in the Design, Functionality and Innovation categories, plus silver in the UX & Usability category. On top of that, Teena won the title of "Master of Swiss Apps 2022" - with the app coming out on top in all three stages of the voting process, i.e. in the juries' assessment, in the readers' vote and in the audience vote. VE Valley Electronics commissioned the project, and Milk Interactive implemented the app.
For many girls, puberty is still a time of uncertainty and unwanted surprises, Christian Waha, jury president for the innovation category, quoted from the laudation. "Through a clever combination of hardware and software, Teena manages to rewrite the conscious handling of puberty and periods. The emotional barometer, combined with well-prepared bioscience content complete the offering to make Gen Z feel 'Period Ready'. The vision as well as the implementation unanimously convinced the jury."
Commenting on the win, Femtech entrepreneur Natalie Rechberg, CEO of VE Valley Electronics, said, "45 percent of teens are afraid of their first period, which is a whopping amount for today's times." Asked about future plans for the app, she replied, "I just want all teens to be period-ready. And with Teena, they can be."
