filmingo brings the curated arthouse film collection of the trigon-film foundation to iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android, Android TV and Swisscom TV. By subscription or single rental, available in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Milk Interactive conceived, designed and developed the streaming app from the ground up.
The trigon-film legacy
Since 1988, the trigon-film foundation has been bringing hand-picked films from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe to Switzerland. filmingo is the digital home of this collection. Curated lists, thematic focuses and Directors' Choice guide through a catalogue that wants to be discovered.
Clarity over clickbait
Large streaming platforms use their interface as a tool: autoplay, endless scrolling and algorithmic suggestions are meant to keep users engaged for as long as possible and slip them content they never looked for. filmingo works the other way around. Those who search for a film find it. Those who want to browse are guided by curation.
Found. Saved. Resumed.
The existing app had aged. In the redesign, we rethought the user experience from the ground up. Users browse by genre, film region or director, sort by relevance, release year or duration, and use a real-time search with suggestions. Watched films are tracked, rented titles are easy to manage. The resume function ensures that no film ever starts from the beginning twice. The UI design was conceived separately for iPhone and iPad. The app is trilingual.
Native on every platform
filmingo runs on six screens – and natively on each one. For Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV), we developed separate native apps in Swift and SwiftUI; for Android and Android TV, in Kotlin. Through Swisscom TV, the platform is also accessible in the classic television format. AirPlay and Chromecast make casting to the big screen effortless.
